Hydrogeochemical Modeling of the Shallow Thermal Water Evolution in Yangbajain Geothermal Field,Tibet

Abstract:The exploitation of thermal water and the increase of cold water ratio change the properties of geofluid in shallow reservoir, which alter the concentration of the chemical constitutes and build new water-rock equilibrium continuously. This paper deduced reservoir pressure and temperature variation tendency from 2004 to 2013, analyzed the change of some components in the shallow reservoir water, and finally obtained the evolution of the thermal geothermal water with hydrogeochemical model. The result showed the reservoir pressure has decreased and reservoir temperature remains unchanged nearly, and more cold groundwater infiltrates into the shallow reservoir, which leads to precipitation SiO2 due to its reduced solubility and dissolution of aluminosilicate resulted from the increased CO2 in shallow reservoir promotes. Calcite precipitation zone has expanded to the north part of the field, which influences the porosity and permeability of the reservoir rock and ultimately the productivity of Yangbajain Geothermal Field.
