  • This study investigates the power generation potential of utilizing an offshore geopressured geothermal aquifer in the Yinggehai Basin, South China Sea. A two-step heat recovery strategy is introduced, starting with hot water production followed by water reinjection after a pressure depletion in the aquifer. This strategy reduces injection well bottom hole pressure by 28.6% compared to conventional methods, ensuring a sustainable production rate of 20 kg/s. The proposed geothermal power system generates electric power ranging from 456.9-589.6 kW. Over 30 years, production temperature and electric power decrease by 8.0% and 20.7%, respectively. Sensitivity analysis indicates that well spacing, injection rate and horizontal well length significantly affect production temperature. While well spacing and injection temperature are key parameters for the geothermal recovery.
