  • Theproblemthatfaultsactasaconduitforhydrocarbon~bearingfluidflowhasbeenunderdebateforalongtime.Thesouthernboundaryfault(FS)andNo.2faultbeltintheZhuⅢsubbasininthePearlRiverMouthbasin(PRMB)ofSouthChinaSea(SCS)areconsideredastheconduitofhydrocarbonsfortheoilandgasfieldsinthehydrocarbon~generatinghalfgrabens.Baseduponthebasinmodelingandseismicvelocityinversionsimulation,thereareabnormalpressurecompartmentsinthecentralpartofhalfgrabens.Wenchang,EnpingandZhuhaiFormationⅡareseatedwithintheabnormal~pressurezone,whiletheZhuhaiFormationⅠiswithinthepressure~transitionzone.Theabnormalpressurewasmainlycausedbyundercompactionduetothehighrateofsedimentationforlayerswithanabnormalpressure.Theincreaseoftemperatureofinclusionsastheincreaseofdepthsupportsverticalmigrationviafaultsinthestudyarea.

Abstract: Theproblemthatfaultsactasaconduitforhydrocarbon~bearingfluidflowhasbeenunderdebateforalongtime.Thesouthernboundaryfault(FS)andNo.2faultbeltintheZhuⅢsubbasininthePearlRiverMouthbasin(PRMB)ofSouthChinaSea(SCS)areconsideredastheconduitofhydrocarbonsfortheoilandgasfieldsinthehydrocarbon~generatinghalfgrabens.Baseduponthebasinmodelingandseismicvelocityinversionsimulation,thereareabnormalpressurecompartmentsinthecentralpartofhalfgrabens.Wenchang,EnpingandZhuhaiFormationⅡareseatedwithintheabnormal~pressurezone,whiletheZhuhaiFormationⅠiswithinthepressure~transitionzone.Theabnormalpressurewasmainlycausedbyundercompactionduetothehighrateofsedimentationforlayerswithanabnormalpressure.Theincreaseoftemperatureofinclusionsastheincreaseofdepthsupportsverticalmigrationviafaultsinthestudyarea.
