  • Leachingstudiesoflow-gradepyrolusite,containing11.84%Mnwithhighsilicon,werecarriedoutusingsodiumsulfiteasareductantinammoniumsulfatemedium.Variousprocessparametersincludingtemperature,leachingtime,solid-liquidratio,quantityofammoniumsulfate,aswellastheamountofreducingagentwerestudiedindetail.Themanganeseextractionyieldwastheresponseoftheprocess.Temperatureandreagentconcentrationexertedthemostimportantpositiveeffectonthemanganeseextraction.Theoptimizedconditionsshowedthatwhentheamountofreducingagentwasastoichonmetricamount,over90%manganeseextractionandthelowestimpuritieswereachieved,theamountofheavymetalimpuritiesinthemanganeseleachingliquidwaslessthan5mg/L,andalmostnoironandaluminumwereextractedin3mol/Lammoniumsulfateconcentrationat100℃in45min.

Abstract: Leachingstudiesoflow-gradepyrolusite,containing11.84%Mnwithhighsilicon,werecarriedoutusingsodiumsulfiteasareductantinammoniumsulfatemedium.Variousprocessparametersincludingtemperature,leachingtime,solid-liquidratio,quantityofammoniumsulfate,aswellastheamountofreducingagentwerestudiedindetail.Themanganeseextractionyieldwastheresponseoftheprocess.Temperatureandreagentconcentrationexertedthemostimportantpositiveeffectonthemanganeseextraction.Theoptimizedconditionsshowedthatwhentheamountofreducingagentwasastoichonmetricamount,over90%manganeseextractionandthelowestimpuritieswereachieved,theamountofheavymetalimpuritiesinthemanganeseleachingliquidwaslessthan5mg/L,andalmostnoironandaluminumwereextractedin3mol/Lammoniumsulfateconcentrationat100℃in45min.
